Chronic Musculoskeletal Pain

This type of pain can be due to various forms of mechanical strain such as :

ARTHRITIS ; BURSITIS; DISC DEGENERATION; SACROILIAC DYSFUNCTION; LUMBOSACRAL INSTABILITY; SPONDYLOSIS and OTHERS.

Mechanical strain in these conditions is the result of one or more of the following:

  • Abnormal stress upon a normal structure
  • Normal stress upon an abnormal structure
  • Normal stress upon a normal structure that is not prepared to receive the stress.

These conditions commonly lead to a loss of mobility of the joints and muscles of the limbs and/or spine. The loss of mobility results in the loss of the normal lubricating mechanism AFFECTING THE NUTRITION of the articular and muscular soft tissues.

The main goal of physiotherapy with chronic pain is the restoration of the normal mobility of joints and muscles which results in improvement of their normal lubrication pain relief followed by an exercise program to maintain flexibility and improve their core stability using a swiss ball.

Some chronic pain sufferers benefit from using TENS. We provide fitting and rental of TENS units.
