Acute Musculoskeletal Pain |
Such as: Sports Injuries; Work Injuries; Neck Pain; Back Pain
Early treatment combining physiotherapy techniques such as electrotherapy and acupuncture can accelerate the recovery of SPORTS INJURIES and ACUTE Neck and Back pain. Early treatment can accelerate recovery twice as fast.
- It is important to minimize the swelling to enhance the healing of the injured tissues. RICE (rest, ice, compression, elevation) is important as soon as possible. Early treatment as soon as it is practical will accelerate the recovery.
- “HANDS ON” Treatment based on advanced techniques of Nordic, Osteopathic and Maitland Mobilization and Manipulation is also used as a form of "passive exercise" to improve mobility.
- Exercise. Once the symptoms start to diminish, exercises are gradually introduced to restore muscle flexibility, strength and control. Muscle stimulation is also used to increase propioception and to activate inhibited muscles.
- Taping or Bandaging, if necessary, is used to make moving easier.
Number of visits
A minor injury may need 1- 4 visits, however if the injury is more serious, more treatment may be necessary.
Returning to work and or sport is monitored to ensure that swelling, inflammation and pain are not unnecessarily prolonged.
